iPhone v1.1.1 confirmed and what it does to unlocked phones
September 28th, mid afternoon apple releases v1.1.1 for the iPhone.
Based on the feedback here are the reports about how v1.1.1 impacts unlocked phones:
No modication - no problem upgrade away with no issues.
Installer.app phones - upgrade works fine, however it removes (or hides) installer.app and all third party applications. So after the update you are left with a working phone (sigh of relief).
The final list as confirmed by apple is what I posted yesterday but for the sake of scrolling down here it is again…
• iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store (so, so)
• Louder speakerphone and receiver volume (general feedback says not so much)
• Home Button double-click shortcut to phone favorites or music controls (cool)
• Space bar double-tap shortcut to intelligently insert period and space (probably best update)
• Mail attachments are viewable in portrait and landscape
• Stocks and cities in Stocks and Weather can be re-ordered
• Apple Bluetooth Headset battery status in the Status Bar
• Support for TV Out
• Preference to turn off EDGE/GPRS when roaming internationally
• New Passcode lock time intervals
• Adjustable alert volume
So over all a pretty mediocore update to say the least. Still no added features from the many wishlists I’ve been reading about over the last few months.
