First off the Wakemate requires two parts a bracelet and an iphone/ipad app.

The product itself is a soft bracelet with an elastic strap to accommodate almost any size wrist.  Having used it for the last few nights I can tell you that once it’s on you barely notice it.  The Wakemate itself contains a small electronic component that is tucked into the soft bracelet – this is what records all of your sleep activity.

The second part, the app, is what documents the data and functions as the actual alarm when it’s time to wake up.

What I really liked was the analytical data that app provides. It records when you fall asleep, how much you move during the night, deep sleep vs light sleep and it gives you a “sleep score”. Making things a game with a score makes me want to improve especially when I can see scores of other people via a leader board.

One improvement I’d like to see in future iterations is the ability to include the alarm directly into the bracelet. If it could simply vibrate this could be  helpful in that smooth transition between sleep and awake.

I’ve used it all. The black cloth that came with my devices seems to require a little bit too much pressure in order to get all of those smudges off of my screens. But, I’m happy to say, I’ve found something that doesn’t require any pressure, cleans incredibly well, and even eliminates the dog hair that seems to get everywhere in my household!

The iPhone 4 Bold case itself fits around the iphone in such a way that it’s barely noticeable.  I’m not a huge fan of cases for the phone because they tend to feel very bulky but this one seems to have been made right!

I really wanted an iPhone in white but wasn’t willing to wait for Apple to sort out their color issues.  But now with the Bold case in white I now have my White iPhone 4.

The back is available in several different colors including black, yellow, green, white, red, purple, orange, pink and magenta.  The sides of the case are clear so once you slip it on it almost looks like a natural iPhone in a different color.

My wife liked the Bold case so much she’s already planning on buying one in Pink.

Let’s be honest the iPhone 4 is a great device but alone it’s speakers aren’t really rocking the house even when turned up full volume.  Now of course there are hundreds or even thousands of different sets of amplifiers and speakers that will help you turn your iphone into a full fledged stereo.  But what we are reviewing today gives you this same ability but without the need for power.

The AirCurve play uses a channel in the back of the device to increase the sound out of the iPhone 4 up to 10 DB.  Now I’m no sound expert but what I can tell you is that after placing the iPhone into the AirCurve there was a noticeable difference, enough to make my wife ask me to turn it down.

Not only can it be used for music but because it has a built in kickstand it can be used with FaceTime, Conference Calls, Videos and even your Alarm Clock.  Now it actually says this on the front of the box but I couldn’t have said it better myself.

Overall the AirCurve Play Acoustic Amplifier is great device.  Using zero power it can produce huge sounds.  So we here at iPhone Journal say cut the cord and go for the AirCurve.

I tested the protectors for the iPhone 3GS and iPad. Following the instructions, I had very little issues with applications of the protectors. Although, step number one clearly states to “Thoroughly clean screen…” Do not skip this step, and make sure it is clean before attempting to apply the 3M Screen Protector. The first attempt at applying to my iPad showed me a few grains of dust or dirt causing an air bubble. I was able to squeegee the air bubble out, but the grain remained in place.

I’ve used protectors in the past and one of my main problems with them was the edges never truly stayed down and dust, dirt, and dog hair would accumulate there. The 3M Natural View Screen Protector did not have this problem at all. 99% of the edges where down and nothing accumulated at the edges. I say 99% because there was a tiny spot on the iPad protector that would not stay down, maybe about an eighth of an inch in size. I wasn’t too concerned because, with the case you couldn’t see it.

Fortunate for this review, unfortunately for my sanity, I had a true test of the scratch protection provided by 3M’s product. My daughter was playing on the iPad and got distracted. She left the iPad on the floor, opened up and ran towards the back door. My 85 pound dog decided to hop off the couch and chase after her. He landed on top of my iPad and launched himself towards the back of the house. Luckily, he didn’t ruin the mechanics, which was the first thing I checked. Then, I checked the screen for scratches and there were none!

My only issue with the 3M Natural View Screen Protector was that it seemed to attract more dust to the protector than without one. It did not collect on the edges or under the protector, but the screen itself seemed to suck up any dust or dog hair nearby. Although that alone can be annoying, I have no problem wiping it before use in order to keep the screen from being scratched. If I have to put up with a little dust in order to save one of my favorite investments, I’m more than happy to.

We’ve been told the Square app will sell in the app store for $.99 cents.  Once the app is downloaded they will send you the credit card swiper, that of course is shaped like a square.  This “square” will plug into your iphone or ipod touch headphone jack.  All you need to do is load the app, type in the amount you want to charge and then swipe the credit card.

Square will take 2.9% of all charges but apparently they don’t take any other fees.  They will also donate one cent for every transaction to a charity of your choice.

By all accounts the Square app should be out of beta sometime early this year.
