Today Apple held an event at their headquarters where they released all the new features that are coming in the new 3.0 version of the iphone.  Let me just say that these new features are a long time coming but honestly, who cares, they are here now.

Apple released the latest version of itunes yesterday giving it a boost in speed in areas that needed it the most. This new version of iTunes 8.1 is available as an update in your current iTunes or via download from Apple.

According to invitations sent out, Apple will be holding a special event on March 17, 2009 to discuss the iPhone 3.0.

Today Apple has released iphone’s 2.2 software update.  This comes as no suprise as it’s been talked about for the last few weeks.  This release includes several enhancements to google maps and some stability fixes.

The iphone 2.1 software update has been released this morning and is available for download.  According to Apple this update includes bug fixes and these upgrades:

Decrease in call set-up failures and dropped calls
Significantly better battery life for most users
Dramatically reduced time to backup to iTunes
Improved email reliability, notably fetching email from POP and Exchange accounts
Faster installation of 3rd party applications
Fixed bugs causing hangs and crashes for users with lots of third party applications
Improved performance in text messaging
Faster loading and searching of contacts
Improved accuracy of the 3G signal strength display
Repeat alert up to two additional times for incoming text messages

I just found out that if you click the home button and the sleep/wake button simultaneously and let go, the screen flashes white and a photo of your home screen is taken.  The photo then shows up in your photo roll.  Here is a copy of my two pages of apps.

Apple has released version 1.1.4.
So far no new features has been uncovered. Apple’s official stance on the update is as follows: “Includes bug fixes and supersedes all previous versions.”
Some reports claim the update improves the reliability of Bluetooth, SMS and Mail on the iPhone, and that it boosts signal strength on mobile networks, but these haven’t yet been confirmed.
